Gov. Brown Signs Bill Lifting Ban On Infused Alcoholic Cocktails

Congratulations to all the bars and bartenders in San Francisco now that it is legal to do your home made  spirit infusions (not that it stopped you in the first place). The news couldn’t have better timing since this city is celebrating this week their cocktail week. Yesterday Gov. Jerry Brown (California) signed a senate bill lifting the ban on infused alcoholic beverages. As I wrote in an earlier post, Senate Bill 32, authored by state Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, (and pushed by every bartender in the city) updates state law to allow the sale of alcohol infused with fruit, vegetables, herbs or spices. The bill includes an urgency clause that allows the new law to take effect immediately.
