My good friend Kenny McCoy expanding his business to Midtown NYC, heres NY Times reviewing the new batch of cocktail lounges opening in this area of the city.

The resurrection of the Rum House, on West 47th Street, tilts more toward homage, and it’s the newcomer with the most traditional, Old World ambience. The long, curving, copper-topped bar is the kind that invites committed drinking, and off to the side sits a piano, though not the same one used by the old Rum House, which was a Broadway fixture that had gathered too much dust, in every possible sense.
When it was reopened in January by the three young proprietors of Ward III, a bespoke cocktail lounge in TriBeCa, the dust was gone. So was the dreary green carpeting — replaced by tiny marble tiles. They glitter like the coins at the bottom of a wishing well.
There’s a seductive menu of classic and original cocktails ($12 to $15), with a special focus on whiskey and rum drinks and, on weekends until 5 p.m., Bloody Marys. More important, there’s a fresh energy, drawing a relatively diverse crowd.
